Trey Songz is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons once more after being arrested for trashing a stage in Detroit when he was told his time was up.
Just days after a video surfaced of the singer being kicked out of a D.C. hotel, he’s been arrested for malicious destruction of property and obstruction of justice, The Detroit News reports. Songz became belligerent Wednesday (December 28) when he was told that his time on stage while performing at the Big Show at Joe Louis Arena was up.
Before the incident began, Trigga Trey addressed his fans: “They say they gon’ cut my mic off ’cause I’m taking too much time… All I want to do is give you the best show I’m capable of giving. If they cut me off remember it, and text whoever you want to, and tweet whoever you want to and tell everybody about it.
“Because if a nigga cuts me off, I’m going the fuck crazy.”
The news site also reports that Detroit Police Department spokesperson Dan Donakowski said after Songz was cut off, he became “upset and belligerent,” throwing equipment around the stage. An officer was hurt when one piece of equipment hit him in the head. He was transported to a hospital and released after treatment of his injuries
As of Thursday morning, the 32-year-old singer was still being held in Detroit Detention Center.
For today’s good news, Lil Wayne makes a real difference & visits the Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.
Well here’s a great story that probably won’t get the attention it should. Out of the kindness of his own heart, Lil Wayne decided to make a stop at the Children Hospital in New Orleans recently, and visit a kid (named Kiron) who was shot back on December 9th and was paralyzed from the waist down after having a bullet stuck in his spine.
“Wayne visited Children’s Hospital of New Orleans the day after Christmas while he was at home for the holidays,” a rep reportedly told XXL. “The purpose of the visit wasn’t for any special reason or for publicity. He just had it on his heart to visit these kids in hopes to brighten up their holiday a little more.”
If only more artists could be like the “best rapper alive” and do things like this
Pitbull is hoping his annual New Year’s Revolution party goes off without a hitch this year (December 31) after technical issues dogged the first two bashes.
The rapper will be ringing in 2017 in Miami, Florida with Snoop Dogg, Queen Latifah, and Naughty By Nature, among others, and his hope is this time the New Year’s countdown works.
Unlike New York’s traditional New Year’s Eve bash in Times Square, where a crystal ball drops, Pitbull’s ball actually goes up – or at least it should.
“We haven’t got the countdown right in two years,” he told Billboard’s Latin Connection Podcast. “We haven’t even got the ball to go up yet.”
But, whether or not the technical side of his December 31 party goes to plan, Pitbull has assured fans he will be having a great time.
“I’m having the time of my life as we’re putting this show together,” he laughed. “New Year’s Eve is all about celebrating, and what I want them (fans) to do is to take on 2017 on a very. very high, positive note.”
The Miami party will be televised live on Fox network on December.
Meanwhile, Pitbull, who is planning a new tour with old pal Enrique Iglesias in 2017, has a very special keepsake from a successful 2016 – he was given a heel from late salsa queen Celia Cruz’s shoe as he unveiled his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“That blew my mind because she’s so special,” he says.
Nicki don’t let Meek’s “L’s” rub off on you girl! JK. LOL
Sooooo rumor has it that Nicki Minaj recently had interest of being a judge/vocal coach on The Voice, but she supposedly fell short in securing the opportunity because the producers allegedly didn’t want her due to her issues at American Idol with Mariah Carey.
Word on the street is the producers felt that Nicki didn’t have the likeability to be a judge either. Apparently those that call the shots believed that Minaj damaged her reputation and career because of her celebrity feuds/beefs and her “nasty attitude”.
Nicki is allegedly pissed off with the show for the above, but also because of Miley Cyrus’ recent involvement with the show.
Nicki has been said to be switching gears to focus more on her acting career at this point. The girl definitely can rap, but as for that acting….. um..idk dawg. She has been said to be pursuing mainstream and “non-urban” roles like ‘Oceans 8’ post her ‘Barbershop’ role.
At one time, Nicki Minaj was supposed to get her own show/ development, but rumor has it that the situation got shut down due to her brother’s rape scandal. If there’s any truth to that, that’s certainly unfair to the head Barb!.
Well, I certainly wish Nicki the best in all of her endeavors and expansion efforts, I just need the Nicki who used to really spit back!
Amidst holiday celebrations, Hip Hop mourned the death of George Michael today (December 25) as the legendary singer passed away at his home in Oxfordshire, England.
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” his publicist Connie Filippello said in a statement to the New York Times.
Michael was a member of the duo Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley throughout the 1980s and embarked on a solo career after. He became a pop culture icon for his artistry and vibrant stage presence.
Much of his music inspired those in the Hip Hop community. His 1984 song “Careless Whisper” was sampled on songs featuring Nas, Outkast and Silkk the Shocker and Future used it on his 2014 song “Rock Star” with Nicki Minaj. Freddie Gibbs sampled 2004’s “Amazing” in his 2015 track “Careless.”
This caps off a year where many legends, including Prince, David Bowie and Phife Dawg passed away.
Chris Brown has some fun with a classic Christmas song.
Singing Christmas carols is par for the course during the holidays. However, people don’t usually turn Rudolph into a Blood (although his nose is red). That’s exactly what Chris Brown did on Christmas Eve, when he posted a video of himself singing an off-color rendition of “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.”
Wearing a festive moose hat, Breezy shows off his typically on-point vocals before breaking into a freestyle version of Rudolph’s theme song. He attached the caption “Someone had to ruin it 😂.”
“Rudolph the red-nosed gangbanger had a bunch of hoes
And if you ever saw them, you could say that he has bankrolls
All of the other thots used to laugh and call him names
But every time I go to the strip club… I get pussy for free! And I don’t have to pay.”
Hopefully Breezy found some company for Christmas, because his video looks a wee bit lonely. Everyone needs a friend to tell them when to lay off the eggnog.
At just 19-years-old, Desiigner is to a large extent a kid himself, but the rookie rapper from Brooklyn has had one hell of a grown-up year. His Grammy-nominated debut single, “Panda” achieved iconic status by hitting the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Kanye West co-sign kept him (and the song) hot, well after accusations of biting Future dwindled off into distant memory.
So with a successful 2016 underneath his Gucci belt, Desiigner felt like it was only right to return home for the holidays and surprise 150 kids at the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club in Brooklyn with gifts, autographs, photo-ops and an overall yuletide turn-up.
“It feels good to be able to do something in my hometown that would make the kids’ holiday a little brighter,” Desiigner, born Sidney Royel Selby III said of his special guest appearance. He also stressed to the youth the importance of giving back to the community.
