Kanye isn’t the only one in America’s premier celebrity family to endorse Trump. In fact, Caitlyn Jenner will be supporting him at tomorrow’s inauguration. Bruce Jenner was a well-known Republican, so the news shouldn’t be too surprising, but now that she identifies as a transgender woman, Caitlyn’s support of Trump hasn’t been received well among the LGBT community.
As for Trump’s people, some of them might see Jenner’s presence at the inauguration as an opportunity to persuade the LGBT faction to see their leader in a more amicable way. One adviser even thinks Trump and Jenner should share a dance at the inauguration party on Friday night. “It’s a brilliant idea,” an unnamed member of Trump’s administration told PageSix.
Trump and Jenner seem to be friends, so a friendly dance shouldn’t be out of the question. In April, Jenner posted a Facebook video of her entering a women’s bathroom in the Trump Tower, noting that the president-elect had personally told her she could use whatever bathroom she liked in any Trump-owned facility.
Another Republican also told PageSix that he thinks a photograph of a dance between Trump and Jenner would be a good PR move for the GOP. “The image of Trump dancing with Caitlyn would send a strong message that he supports gay rights and trans rights,” said the Republican. “A picture is worth a thousand tweets.”
With just a day to go before the inaugural celebration, though, it is unlikely that such a dance will come to fruition. “I can’t deal in hypotheticals and have no idea what Trump aids hope happens,” a rep for Jenner told PEOPLE, before adding, “Of course, real question is if they danced, who would lead?” Considering Trump’s ego, one would think he would want to have control, though Jenner’s no docile lady. Think we’ll see these two polarizing figures meet on the dancefloor tomorrow evening?
Pitbull is hoping his annual New Year’s Revolution party goes off without a hitch this year (December 31) after technical issues dogged the first two bashes.
The rapper will be ringing in 2017 in Miami, Florida with Snoop Dogg, Queen Latifah, and Naughty By Nature, among others, and his hope is this time the New Year’s countdown works.
Unlike New York’s traditional New Year’s Eve bash in Times Square, where a crystal ball drops, Pitbull’s ball actually goes up – or at least it should.
“We haven’t got the countdown right in two years,” he told Billboard’s Latin Connection Podcast. “We haven’t even got the ball to go up yet.”
But, whether or not the technical side of his December 31 party goes to plan, Pitbull has assured fans he will be having a great time.
“I’m having the time of my life as we’re putting this show together,” he laughed. “New Year’s Eve is all about celebrating, and what I want them (fans) to do is to take on 2017 on a very. very high, positive note.”
The Miami party will be televised live on Fox network on December.
Meanwhile, Pitbull, who is planning a new tour with old pal Enrique Iglesias in 2017, has a very special keepsake from a successful 2016 – he was given a heel from late salsa queen Celia Cruz’s shoe as he unveiled his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“That blew my mind because she’s so special,” he says.
Nicki don’t let Meek’s “L’s” rub off on you girl! JK. LOL
Sooooo rumor has it that Nicki Minaj recently had interest of being a judge/vocal coach on The Voice, but she supposedly fell short in securing the opportunity because the producers allegedly didn’t want her due to her issues at American Idol with Mariah Carey.
Word on the street is the producers felt that Nicki didn’t have the likeability to be a judge either. Apparently those that call the shots believed that Minaj damaged her reputation and career because of her celebrity feuds/beefs and her “nasty attitude”.
Nicki is allegedly pissed off with the show for the above, but also because of Miley Cyrus’ recent involvement with the show.
Nicki has been said to be switching gears to focus more on her acting career at this point. The girl definitely can rap, but as for that acting….. um..idk dawg. She has been said to be pursuing mainstream and “non-urban” roles like ‘Oceans 8’ post her ‘Barbershop’ role.
At one time, Nicki Minaj was supposed to get her own show/ development, but rumor has it that the situation got shut down due to her brother’s rape scandal. If there’s any truth to that, that’s certainly unfair to the head Barb!.
Well, I certainly wish Nicki the best in all of her endeavors and expansion efforts, I just need the Nicki who used to really spit back!
While there have been hints — and even overt statements — that players on NBA championship teams over the next four years will forgo the traditional visit to the White House because of President-elect Donald Trump, NBA commissioner Adam Silver is imploring players not to go through with any such boycott.
Silver says a visit to the White House would provide an opportunity for socially conscious players to speak with Trump about issues that concern them.
In a piece on The Undefeated that touches on several facets of the league’s intersection wit Silver says:
“To me, if a player were to choose not to go to the White House, whether they were choosing not to go to the current White House or a future White House, my response would be: ‘That’s a lost opportunity.’ Because that’s an opportunity that most citizens who have a political point of view would kill for — the opportunity to directly tell the president of the United States how they feel about an issue.
Now, if the president were to say, ‘I have no interest in what members of the NBA think about an issue,’ that might surprise me and I might have a different response.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers visited President Obama on Nov. 10, two days after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the presidential election, and there were suggestions it may have been the last trip to the White House by an NBA champion as long as Trump lives there.
Amidst holiday celebrations, Hip Hop mourned the death of George Michael today (December 25) as the legendary singer passed away at his home in Oxfordshire, England.
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” his publicist Connie Filippello said in a statement to the New York Times.
Michael was a member of the duo Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley throughout the 1980s and embarked on a solo career after. He became a pop culture icon for his artistry and vibrant stage presence.
Much of his music inspired those in the Hip Hop community. His 1984 song “Careless Whisper” was sampled on songs featuring Nas, Outkast and Silkk the Shocker and Future used it on his 2014 song “Rock Star” with Nicki Minaj. Freddie Gibbs sampled 2004’s “Amazing” in his 2015 track “Careless.”
This caps off a year where many legends, including Prince, David Bowie and Phife Dawg passed away.
It appears Lil Uzi Vert has ended his breakout year by joining Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Entertainment.
The announcement reportedly came last night at the “A Very Uzi Christmas” concert in Philadelphia.
Wiz later confirmed the news on Twitter after a user asked the “See You Again” rhymer about the supposed signing.
“Definitely is gangster,” responded Wiz
In October, Wiz’s Taylor Gang Ent signed a deal with Atlantic Records.
The label/crew also includes Juicy J, Ty Dolla $ign, Chevy Woods, Berner, Tuki Carter, and J.R. Donato.
Uzi is currently working on his next project titled Luv Is Rage 2.
Wiz appeared on “Queso” off the original Luv Is Rage.
The Pennsylvania natives also teamed up for “Pull Up.”
Most people think of Roc-A-Fella or Bad Boy Records when it comes to Hip-Hop Empires, but there was one that preceded them by well over a decade.
Sugarhill Records got started in 1979 and paved the way for commercial rap with monster hits like “Rapper’s Delight” and Grandmaster Flash’s “White Lines.”
A new reality show will chronicle a new era of Sugar Hill and also determine who will lead the one-time music powerhouse. The “First Family of Hip Hop” will peer into the lives of Sugar Hill founded Sylvia Robinson’s son Leland Robinson, Sr. and the family. This family includes Darnell Robinson, Rhondo Robinson, Jr., Antonio Jordan, Lady Luck, Somaya Reece, Eseni Ellington, and Leland Robinson, Jr., who are all looking to run the Sugar Hill Empire in the new era of Hip-Hop.
All of my kids have ideas for the future of Sugarhill,” Leland said in a press release, “but none of them have showed me that they can really run this empire.”
Lea Robinson boldly proclaims her stake, “Only one of us can be in charge. Sugarhill was started by a woman, it’s destined to be run by a woman again.”
